ATLS CME: How to claim

Claiming Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits is crucial for medical professionals to stay current with advancements in healthcare. As the field rapidly evolves with new research, treatments, and technologies, CME ensures that healthcare providers maintain their expertise, which directly impacts the quality of patient care. For many, CME is not just a professional obligation but a necessary step to retain licensure and certification. Beyond fulfilling regulatory requirements, CME fosters a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging professionals to refine their skills and knowledge regularly. In a profession where patient outcomes are directly linked to the provider’s competence, staying informed through CME is essential for delivering optimal care and upholding the standards of medical practice.

In order to print your CME certificate or Certificate of Completion after your ATLS course has been completed in-person.

1. Login to learning.facs.org using the same credentials you’ve used previously to access the pre- test, mATLS modules, and electronic student manual. Once you login, please go to your “Completed Courses & Activities” section on your dashboard. The image below shows where you can find your course.

2. When you find your ATLS course, click on this link. It will take you back to the course; please click on “Take course” as shown below.

3. Once you click on this button, it will take you to the mATLS modules. In the left hand side, where it says “Course Navigation” you want to scroll all the way to the bottom of the modules. The image below shows where you can find “Course Navigation”:

4. When you scroll to the bottom of the modules (see screenshot below) you want to pay attention to two things: 1. mATLS Course Evaluation and 2. Credit. For mATLS Course Evaluation, make sure you complete this after the in-person course has been completed. It will show a filled in green circle for completion, as shown below. For the “Credit” section, this is where you will find and print your certificate. Please click on Credit.

5. When you click on “Credit” this section will expand, and at this point, you want to click on “Review” (see below):

6. Once you click on “Review”, the following Credit page will appear as shown below. Click on “Access Your Transcript”:

7. Once you click to access your transcript, the below page will load (cmeapps.facs.org/cme). Once at this page, please click on “Transcript” as highlighted and shown below:

8. Once you successfully clicked on Transcript, the below page will load. In this page, it will show you the list of completed educational activities like your ATLS course. You will find the course listed there, and the final step is to click on “Print” – highlighted below:

9. A window will pop up asking to click print again – click “Print Certificate” again as shown below:

10. As soon as the certificate prints, your browser will notify you it has been downloaded. When you open the file, it should look like this – it should have your name and date of the course along with course type:
